Fire exit

I blocked the fire exit when I got here. Then I bricked it up. I knew it didn’t really go out of the Slough, just out of the way. Fire exits only ever go to a place you don’t want to stay for long.

And you always have to go back inside, unless the place has really burnt down.

There was never much chance of the Slough burning down, it’s too wet and boggy. When bogs burn, it’s the dancing blue flames of methane, will o’ the wisp, luring more travellers in.
